THIKRIYAAT is taken to secure back to back wins over course and distance at Goodwood on Saturday by landing the featured Group 2 Doom Bar Celebration Mile.

The Sir Michael Stoute-trained gelding continued his ascent through the grades when winning a Group 3 at this spectacular Sussex venue in late July.

The success was his fourth win in five starts. The three-year-old ran well on his sole defeat when second in the Jersey Stakes at Royal Ascot to the classy Ribchester, who franked the good form when bagging a Group 1 in France earlier this month.

Thikriyaat is fairly-priced at 15/8 and is fancied to prevail in the field of five runners that also include Zonderland (9/4) Toormore (9-2); Lightning Spear (6-1) and the Peter Chapple-Hyam-trained Arod at 7-1.

Chapple-Hyam is hoping for a return to form for his charge who has won twice at Group level but possibly ran his best race when finishing a close second to French superstar Solow in the one mile Qatar Sussex Stakes here in 2015.

“He seems very well, there have been no problems with him whatsoever. We’ve had an on-and-off year because my horses have been very sick but they’re right now,” the trainer told At The Races. “He’s a better horse round a bend too, so here’s hoping.”
