NEWBURY RACECOURSE will refund entry costs to the first 500 people who book grandstand tickets for the Hennessy Gold Cup Chase on November 26 if the favourite wins the race.

The Berkshire track today (Monday) announced the initiative to give racegoers the chance to win free entry to Newbury’s feature jump race of the season, which this year carries total prize money of £200,000.

The offer applies to the first 500 Grandstand Enclosure tickets bought using the HGC Favourite Money Back Offer when booking. The ticket costs will be refunded if the three and a quarter mile contest is won by the starting price (SP) favourite.

Native River currently heads the betting at 6-1 from Un Temps Pour Tout (8-1) and Saphir Du Rheu (10-1) in the valuable contest that has attracted 56 entries.

“The likes of Bobs Worth, Denman and Celestial Gold have all won the Hennessy as favourite in recent years,” Newbury’s head of communications, Andy Clifton, said.

“Native River currently looks solid at the top of the market but whichever horse goes off favourite this is a great way to give grandstand customers a chance to experience Hennessy Gold Cup day for free, even if they don’t back the winner of our most iconic jump race.”
